The State Grassroots Chair for federal-level advocacy plays a critical role in NAIFA’s advocacy efforts. Each state has its method for selecting the chair, and once the person is asked and has accepted the position, they are expected to serve a 2-year minimum term. It is also requested that each State Grassroots Chair appoint a co-chair to assist them with duties.
Responsibilities
Encourage NAIFA members to build relationships with members of Congress and to report any contacts to NAIFA.
Identify leads to help coordinate legislative events 3-4 times a year, in-person or virtually, with legislators and/or appropriate staffers.
Encourage the involvement of NAIFA members in political activities, including federal election campaigns and attendance at town hall meetings.
Communicate effectively and frequently with your National Grassroots Committee regional vice chair.
Encourage participation in grassroots action alerts (GovAlerts) when important legislative action occurs.
Work closely with other association leaders, particularly the grassroots chair for state-level advocacy, IFAPAC chair, government relations chair, and national committeeperson to ensure a well-coordinated legislative program in your state.
In coordination with the IFAPAC and government relations chairs, encourage personal dollar fundraising activities on behalf of congressional candidates supportive of agents and advisors.
Contribute at least $500 a year to IFAPAC.

Each state has its method for selecting the right member; once the chairperson is tapped, they are expected to serve a 2-year minimum term. It is also requested that each State Grassroots Chair appoint a co-chair to assist them with duties.
Responsibilities
Encourage NAIFA members to build relationships with state lawmakers and to report any key contacts to NAIFA.
Coordinate legislative events and meetings, in-person or virtually, involving an elected official, member of the Insurance Department, or appropriate staffers.
Communicate regularly with contract lobbyists, help identify legislative priorities and consult with NAIFA staff on policy positions.
Monitor legislation in their state using NAIFA bill tracking tools.
Coordinate grassroots action alerts when important legislative action occurs.
Represent NAIFA on coalition calls that involve a policy issue in their state.
Solicit IFAPAC contributions from members.
Contribute at least $500 a year to IFAPAC.
