Actively promote the involvement of insurance agents and financial advisors in the election of candidates for local, state, and national office, consistent with the legislative interests of the NAIFA federation; and
Identify and foster the creation of significant NAIFA member relationships with elected officials.
The National Grassroots Committee oversees NAIFA's contact system and grassroots lobbying program, the nerve center of NAIFA's legislative efforts.
Committee Member Responsibilities:
Each committee member of the National Grassroots Committee will oversee 4-5 states and aid in:
1) effectuating the involvement of insurance agents and financial advisors in the election of candidates for local, state, and national office who support the legislative interests of the NAIFA federation; and
2) identifying and fostering the creation of significant advisor relationships with elected officials.
Committee members should initiate and maintain ongoing relationships with all state grassroots chairs within their states and shall oversee and monitor their activities, including the following goals:
Work to ensure that all members of Congress have a Key Contact.
Help identify at least one legislative contact for each member of Congress (ideally, each member of Congress should have at least six contacts).
Encourage chapter members to develop relationships with staff members in the congressional district office(s).
Attend advocacy trainings.
Work closely with other association leaders, particularly the IFAPAC chair, government relations chair, health chair, and national committeeperson to ensure a well-coordinated legislative program in each association.
Encourage interest in and provide resources on contributing to IFAPAC.
Arrange at least one organized chapter function each year for a member of Congress to attend or speak at (please inform the NAIFA Home Office of these meetings).
Monitor meeting lead activities in their state.
Make routine reports at association/board meetings and ensure that association members understand NAIFA Advocacy’s goals and objectives.
Disseminate all NAIFA GovAlerts throughout their association to ensure prompt and extensive action during a legislative "call to action."
Ensure all grassroots contact names are reported through the Advocacy Action Center or directly to NAIFA Home Office.
