National Grassroots Committee

The Mission of NAIFA Grassroots is to:

Actively promote the involvement of insurance agents and financial advisors in the election of candidates for local, state, and national office, consistent with the legislative interests of the NAIFA federation; and

The National Grassroots Committee oversees NAIFA's contact system and grassroots lobbying program, the nerve center of NAIFA's legislative efforts.

Committee Member Responsibilities:

Each committee member of the National Grassroots Committee will oversee 4-5 states and aid in:

1) effectuating the involvement of insurance agents and financial advisors in the election of candidates for local, state, and national office who support the legislative interests of the NAIFA federation; and

2) identifying and fostering the creation of significant advisor relationships with elected officials.

  • Attend advocacy trainings.

  • Work closely with other association leaders, particularly the IFAPAC chair, government relations chair, health chair, and national committeeperson to ensure a well-coordinated legislative program in each association.

  • Encourage interest in and provide resources on contributing to IFAPAC.

  • Arrange at least one organized chapter function each year for a member of Congress to attend or speak at (please inform the NAIFA Home Office of these meetings).

  • Monitor meeting lead activities in their state.

  • Make routine reports at association/board meetings and ensure that association members understand NAIFA Advocacy’s goals and objectives.

  • Disseminate all NAIFA GovAlerts throughout their association to ensure prompt and extensive action during a legislative "call to action."

  • Ensure all grassroots contact names are reported through the Advocacy Action Center or directly to NAIFA Home Office.
