NAIFA’s grassroots advocacy has taken on a renewed urgency with Congress determining what will and will not be in an upcoming multi-trillion-dollar tax bill. Small businesses – including those owned by NAIFA members and their clients – could be at risk. Members of Congress need to hear how proposals would impact NAIFA members’ businesses, clients, and communities. Register for the Congressional Conference.
- Failing to extend or make permanent the 199A tax deduction for pass-through businesses would be a big tax increase for small business owners who employ 62% of American workers.
- Raising the top individual income tax rate would similarly impact pass-through businesses, including Main Street companies and family-owned enterprises. (Does this sound like you or your clients?)
- Elimination or reduction of the Corporate State and Local Tax (C-SALT) deduction would significantly increase the tax burden on insurance companies and increase insurance and annuity premiums for consumers.
All of these ideas have been proposed and are being discussed!
NAIFA members can make a difference, but only if they show up. See who is registered for the Congressional Conference on our Who’s Coming page. Is there someone you believe would make a good advocate whose name is missing? Reach out to them as a NAIFA leader and ask them to join us. Is your name missing from the list? Well, you know what you need to do!
This is not just hype. The risk is real. Tax reform is coming and it could seriously impact NAIFA members’ businesses and clients. Recent headlines tell the tale (some articles are behind paywalls):
