Local Advocacy in Los Angeles Makes a Big Impact

By NAIFA on 2/7/24 12:50 PM

Lawmakers in California, and particularly in the city of Los Angeles, know the importance of life insurance and understand the critical work financial professionals do. NAIFA-Los Angeles has been key to their education. For the past 20 consecutive years, NAIFA-Los Angeles members, including the chapter’s Past President Gilbert Mares, LUTCF, Grassroots Chair Jose Rodriguez, and President Alvin Parra, have worked with Los Angeles Mayors and members of the City Council to have September proclaimed Life Insurance Awareness Month. They have also been instrumental in getting similar proclamations issued by the state Senate and the County of Los Angeles.

It's Not too Late to Encourage In-District Meeting Participation

By NAIFA on 7/26/23 3:40 PM

In-District meetings during the August Congressional Recess provide an opportunity for NAIFA's grassroots advocates to influence policy in a more casual setting than Washington, D.C. They allow us to build relationships with lawmakers and amplify our advocacy message. Our goal is for NAIFA members to schedule more than 300 meetings with lawmakers in their home districts during the August recess. As NAIFA leaders, please encourage the members in your state to cooperate.

By NAIFA on 7/12/23 12:28 PM

The August Congressional Recess offers a great opportunity for NAIFA's grassroots advocates to influence policy. In-district meetings build on the momentum we created at Congressional Conference in May. They allow us to build relationships with lawmakers and amplify our advocacy message. Our goal is for NAIFA members to schedule more than 300 meetings with lawmakers in their home districts during the August recess. Be a part of something big and add your voice on behalf of your business, colleagues, clients, and community.

Are NAIFA Members in Your State Running for State or Federal Office?

By Mark Briscoe on 3/9/22 5:34 PM

This is an election year, and a number of NAIFA members are taking their political involvement to the next level. At least three NAIFA members are running for state-level offices:

  • NAIFA Trustee Wes Booker, Arkansas State House of Representative, District 71
  • John Raley, Iowa State Senate, District 45
  • Adam Solano, Illinois State Senate, District 31

If you know of any other NAIFA members who are running for state or national office this year, please let us know using the contact button below. We would like to create a profile article featuring NAIFA's advocacy efforts and our members running for office. (We love our members who are running for local positions, too, but NAIFA does state and federal advocacy, so that will be our focus for this piece.)
