NAIFA has announced the inaugural Terry Headley Lifetime Defender Award, which will recognize a current NAIFA member who shows exemplary service to their profession, colleagues, and clients through their political advocacy and contributions to IFAPAC.
NAIFA is the leading advocacy association for producers in the insurance and financial services industry, working for positive legislative and regulatory outcomes at the federal, interstate, and state levels. NAIFAPAC is a leading insurance political action committee with associated PACs in every state supporting selected candidates for legislative office. Participation in advocacy initiatives is one of the ways that association members are “good NAIFA citizens.”
Former NAIFA President Terry Headley, LUTCF, LIC, FSS, has a long-distinguished record of service to NAIFA. He is recognized as a key NAIFA contact for multiple members of both the Nebraska Congressional delegation and the state legislators over the years. Headley has served in leadership roles at the local, state, and national levels. He is also an IFAPAC Capitol Defender. Headley and former NAIFA President Robert Miller, M.A., M.S., are known as “IFAPAC Co-commanders in Chief” because their IFAPAC lifetime giving totals exceeded $100,000.
“Terry Headley has done so much to advance NAIFA’s advocacy mission, it is only fitting that an award recognizing NAIFA’s top member advocate should bear his name,” said NAIFA President Tom Michel, LACP. “NAIFA members show a strong commitment to grassroots advocacy and are generous in their political giving. We have many excellent candidates among our membership worthy of this award, so I look forward to celebrating the recipient when we gather in person for NAIFA’s National Leadership Conference.”
Nominees for NAIFA's inaugural Terry Headley Lifetime Defender Award should be current NAIFA members who exhibit Headley's commitment to advancing the legislative agendas of agents, advisors, and their clients. To nominate members, please submit the nominee’s name, chapter, a listing of all leadership positions they have held (advocacy positions will hold more weight in the decision-making process), and all state legislators for whom the nominee is a contact. Include a statement with a description as to why this person is worthy of receiving the award.
Please submit your nominations to IFAPAC@NAIFA.org. The winner will be announced as part of the National Leadership Conference in December and presented by Robert Miller.
