November is National Long-Term Care Awareness Month, an annual campaign to raise awareness about the need for long-term care (LTC) planning and the financial, emotional, and physical impacts associated with it. The campaign is aimed at educating the public about the importance of preparing for the potential need for long-term care services, which include assistance with daily activities such as bathing, dressing, and eating, often needed due to aging, chronic illness, or disability.

Life Happens content now available to NAIFA members

As part of the NAIFA family, Life Happens is an integral part of NAIFA’s mission to promote financial literacy, and that includes educating consumers about the importance of long-term care coverage. NAIFA members have exclusive access to a social media calendar that includes social media posts and images for each weekday in November. These new campaign assets – specifically for NAIFA members – will inspire and educate the followers on your social media platforms.

The first post is set for Friday, Nov. 1, and directs readers to Life Happens’ consumer-friendly page about long-term care insurance, featuring a Q&A and a Real-Life Story video featuring one family whose savings would have been depleted due to a major health crisis if not for long term care insurance.

I encourage all NAIFA members to take advantage of these resources available through Life Happens to promote engagement with your clients and communities. Even if LTC insurance is not your primary line of business, Long-Term Care Awareness Month provides an opportunity to get your clients up to speed on this important coverage.

Announcing NAIFA’s Peak 65 Series: Impact Day for Lifetime Healthcare

This fall, NAIFA launched a revitalized Lifetime Healthcare Center which now casts a broader net to include topics in social security, caregiving, longevity, Medicare, and vitality through the golden years. As part of Long-Term Care Awareness Month, NAIFA will hold a virtual daylong event featuring TED-talk style sessions presented by known industry experts who are advancing the products and services available to financial advisors.
