Encourage NAIFA members in your chapter to register for NAIFA's Congressional Conference. Don't put it off. The first 300 NAIFA members to register and meet eligibility requirements will receive a $350 travel stipend. The Congressional Conference is NAIFA's signature advocacy event and one you don't want to miss.

In addition to being I ❤️ NAIFA and Insure Your Love Month, February is also the time when we open up the applications and nominations for NAIFA's distinguished awards. We are pleased to announce that applications for NAIFA's 2024 awards are now open. Our awards provide an opportunity for our members to differentiate themselves from the crowd and receive national recognition for their contributions. All awards are found in NAIFA's Talent Development Center.

It's not too late to register for "The Newest Trends in Life Settlement," a NAIFA-FSP webinar sponsored by Coventry. The event is free to NAIFA members and attendees may be eligible for CE credits. The demand for life settlements has seen a resurgence as seniors realize the benefits of reevaluating their life insurance strategy. Life Happens, NAIFA's consumer education arm, is hosting a Facebook chat February 15, from 1 to 2 pm eastern and all NAIFA members are invited to participate. Join us to share your ideas about how companies and financial professionals can spread the message that purchasing life insurance is ultimately an act of love. The chat is part of Life Happens's Insure Your Love Month, celebrated each February.

Lawmakers in California, and particularly in the city of Los Angeles, know the importance of life insurance and understand the critical work financial professionals do. NAIFA-Los Angeles has been key to their education. For the past 20 consecutive years, NAIFA-Los Angeles members, including the chapter’s Past President Gilbert Mares, LUTCF, Grassroots Chair Jose Rodriguez, and President Alvin Parra, have worked with Los Angeles Mayors and members of the City Council to have September proclaimed Life Insurance Awareness Month. They have also been instrumental in getting similar proclamations issued by the state Senate and the County of Los Angeles.

In an ever-evolving landscape of personal finance and estate planning, staying ahead of the latest trends and legislative changes is paramount for professionals in the field. Sponsored by the American Cancer Society, the upcoming webinar led by Marty Shenkman, JD, CPA, MBA, PFS, will go over the critical developments and changes anticipated in 2024.
