September is Life Insurance Awareness Month, and NAIFA will be going all out to promote this important campaign. But in addition to LIAM, the calendar for September contains a full slate of recognition days that honor worthy causes and people. NAIFA regularly posts commemorations of these days on our national social media channels and those of the chapters who have given us access to their accounts. August 31st is the final day to submit your applications and nominations for one of NAIFA's awards! ICYMI, we announced our 2023 John Newton Russell Memorial Award recipient, Joe Jordan. Put your name or the name of one of your colleagues up for consideration to be celebrated with Joe as a 2023 NAIFA Award recipient! All awards will be recognized during the 2023 Belong Awards Celebration to be held on December 4th during the National Leadership Conference.  Don't delay any longer, check out all of NAIFA's awards in the Talent Development Center.

IFAPAC pools contributions from across NAIFA Nation to support the campaigns of state and federal candidates who appreciate the role of insurance and financial advisors and support our industry. A strong IFAPAC shows that NAIFA members are an active part of the political process. As NAIFA leaders, please set a good example by contributing to IFAPAC and encouraging members in your chapter to do the same.

This September marks the 20th Anniversary of Life Insurance Awareness Month (LIAM), brought to you by our partner, Life Happens. We want to hear from our chapters on how they plan to participate in 2023. Are you hosting an event focused on life insurance? Have you requested a proclamation from your city or state? NAIFA members across the country are meeting with their members of Congress in their home districts during the August Congressional recess. In-District Meetings build and nurture grassroots relationships and maximize the influence of NAIFA members’ advocacy. They demonstrate to lawmakers that NAIFA members are active in their local communities and representative of the lawmakers’ constituents.

We are delighted to announce that Joseph W. Jordan is the 2023 recipient of the John Newton Russell Memorial Award, the highest honor accorded by the insurance industry to a living individual who has rendered outstanding services to the institution of life insurance. The selection committee consists of representatives of the nine leading organizations in the life insurance and financial services industry.
