CHAPTER PLAYBOOK

Affiliate Development

To ensure that every NAIFA member has opportunities for local engagement available to them, it is imperative that State Chapters build local areas/regions for members to gather and interact when they do not have the option of a Local Chapter available to them.

If an Affiliate structure does not exist within your State Chapter there are three key questions you must answer:
  1. Does every State Chapter need Affiliates?
  2. How may Affiliates should you have/can you manage?
  3. How do State Chapters build an Affiliate map?

All three questions are answered in NAIFA's Chapter Affiliate Development Webinar. Along with using the webinar as a resource, the corresponding outline and PowerPoint can also be accessed.

Affiliate Deployment

So you have your map, now what? It's time to build your Affiliate leadership and Affiliate programming! NAIFA's Chapter Affiliate Development Webinar: Part Two walks Chapters through how to develop Affiliate leadership and how to support Affiliate leadership. In addition, the webinar provides programming ideas for Affiliates to consider.

Along with using the webinar as a resource, the corresponding PowerPoint and Affiliate Program Guide can also be accessed.

Affiliate Programming

A successful Affiliate program provides regular (at least quarterly) opportunities for members to gather in a fun/engaging environment for networking and information sharing on important NAIFA initiatives. The NAIFA Affiliate Program Guide provides guidance on effective Affiliate programming including responsibilities of the State Chapter vs. Affiliate, types of programs and additional resources.

Affiliate Funding

All NAIFA members who do not belong to a Local Chapter are aligned with an Affiliate area within their State Chapter. Providing sufficient Affiliate funding is essential to meeting the goal of providing members in Affiliate areas with engagement, programming and a quality member experience. The NAIFA Affiliate Funding Policy should be adopted by each State Chapter Board to manage these funds.
