You’re Going to Know Failure if You Are Brave

"You’re going to know failure if you are brave with your life."
– Brene Brown

Bravery is defined in many ways. It’s our military riding to the sound of the gun. It's the first responders running towards an explosion. Our medical workers “gowning-up” daily. Bravery isn’t just for heroes. It exists for everyone, including you. It’s for those who stand up for others and for those who ask others to stand by them.

In many ways, asking a non-member to join NAIFA is an act of bravery. You are opening yourself up to rejection and possible criticism. So why do so many members invite others to join? They know it’s the right thing to do. They know it strengthens NAIFA. They know it helps protect their clients.

Let’s be brave together. It starts with a simple step. Make a list of five non-members. It could be someone in your office. Maybe someone handed you a business card, and the card is on your desk. It could be someone you had previously asked and didn’t follow up with them.

The next step is performing the act of bravery – making the ask. Set aside an hour between January 5th and the 8th. Invite them to socially distance themselves with you over coffee or call them. Tell them, in your own words, what NAIFA has meant to you and the value it brings to your clients. Ask them to stand with you and over 20,000 other members as NAIFA protects Advocates, Educates, and Differentiates producers and their clients. Ask them to visit www.naifa.org/join

I have my five asks ready to go. Do you?
