How frequently does your Board of Directors meet? Monthly? By-monthly? Quarterly? If your Board of Directors meets too often, you may be depleting Chapter resources and staff time according to Bob Harris, CAE.
Popular answers to the question, "Why do we meet so often?," include:
- We've always done it this way.
- We like each other and the meeting facilitates the board’s networking.
- If we don’t meet monthly the directors will forget what we are working on.
If your meeting frequency seems too high, it may be time to do the math and reassess the time and costs associated with board meetings.
